Poly Me

Synopsis

Direction/Choreography: Laila Spee

Release: December 2023

Genre: Short Film

Running time: 4 minutes

Poly Me is about a three-way relationship, both literally and metaphorically. It’s about the quest for freedom within oneself and within the “typical” Western notion of a relationship. Poly Me examines the common view that a relationship should be monogamous and proposes an alternative: to love means to let go, to set free, to embrace boundlessness, to rub against one another, to share. Three dancers explore their relationships with each other and with themselves; security stands in contrast to passion, to lust, and yet both long for each other. How do you find the balance? Is the grass really greener on the other side?
